I was fortunate to catch this band live in Kansas City in May 2019, just as the international fervor of this band was truly coming to a head. They are the most important band in the world right now and the message they have shared in their first two full length albums is one that has been sorely needed for sometime. The album had an advertised release date of 12/6 and I excitedly reserved a copy in mid-November selecting the back gatefold sleeve with the translucent pink discs. There were three editions of the album all with different colored sleeves and vinyl. Unfortunately, the release in the US was evidently pushed back and no retailers had the album on 12/6. An updated release date of 12/20 was pushed forward and, as promised, my copy was on my porch on the afternoon of the December 20.I have taken some time to sit down and critically listen to the record. I assume you, as a potential buyer, want to know how the vinyl is. Well, it's pretty good, its not 180's vinyl, but it's good weight and well recorded. Stereo separation is very good and the mastering of the bass is spot on. I can clearly pick out all the different members of the band. I can hear in Mother how John Beavis and Adam Devonshire work to get the band back in the pocket rhythmically. Stereo separation is great and the pressing creates a nice soundstage. If you haven't seen Idles, buy this album, put it on a decent turntable, with a decent cartridge, and a decent amp with decent speakers, turn your heater up to 90 degrees, do a 100 jumping jacks, sit back in the dark, close your eyes, and you'll feel like you're in the crowd. All is love!
