This is my first Native American flute, and after owning it for 2 weeks, I absolutely recommend it to any curious beginner.I've had a whim to get one for a while now. When I was a kid, I had one of those cheap, squeaky plastic recorders, which was fun to learn, but not so much for the rest of the family (or neighbors.)This flute arrived SO quickly, I could hardly wait to try it out! It came with a beautiful drawstring bag, and a pamphlet that I overlooked in my eagerness at first. The flute itself is a true work of art - shimmering, smooth red cedar wood topped with a gorgeous wolf carving, and a soulful sound to it.I blew a few squeaky notes before I got a handle on it. (The booklet lets you know that each hole must be completely covered to avoid this.) I've practiced just a little bit each day, and I've already learned 2 songs; definitely got a ways to go, but to me, this is really exciting! The booklet has a practice scale to help you learn, and a few "starter songs" to get you going! It also includes maintenance pointers to keep the flute in good working condition. This flute has been a great way to wind down from a long day for me, and I've even noticed I've been breathing easier in the two weeks since I've started playing it. It's easy to hold, and even my small hands don't have to strain to cover all the notes! By the way, I found that flute scales are not quite as straightforward as, say, a piano, since your fingers will move around more to get the right note. So in addition to the booklet that comes with, I also recommend Clint Goss' YouTube channel for some flute playing techniques.TLDR: If you're looking for a beginner flute with a nice full sound to it, you've found it!
