First year - great experience, lots of moisture output, low noise (just an occasional burble from the water boiling off the element). Sleeves were easy and quick to replace, and relatively cheap. I used water filtered through a Brita filter to reduce the deposit rates on the sleeves.Despite the sleeves, the heating element would occasionally see some hard deposits. Lightly brushing these off with a kitchen sponge/pad was all that was needed to clear them.Putting it away last fall I noticed some of the plastic was yellowed around the heating element and the element was a bit "loose" feeling, though still held in place.Started it up for this fall/winter, and a week later I hear some 'popping' sounds. I just let it cool down after unplugging it, and the plastic is completely rotten/overheated around the element. There is a slight burnt plastic smell. Just touching the plastic makes it crumble away!!!The 'popping sound'? Moisture building in the 'sealed' area at the top of the heating element seems to have made it arc!I'll be disassembling this while taking photos. This thing is a fire hazard and was poorly designed, with plastic not capable of withstanding the temperatures surrounding it.
