I am not an expert on these mats but my old one was very hard. Wheels didn't sink into it at all. Eventually it became brittle and started splintering. This one seems to give and the wheels sink into it slightly. I weigh 185. This causes slight resistence when you go to move your chair after sitting in one place for any length of time. The dents don't stay long and it seems pretty durable other than that. I would repurchaase.
