Depending where you read in the product description this is either "soft leather", "100% genuine leather", "soft top layer cowhide", or "PU leather". To my untrained eye it looks and feels similar in quality to a thin layer cowhide on the surface, but something else beneath. I have purchased quite a few bags similar to this but at much lower price points, so difficult for me to use that as a materials gauge. It is still too early for me to tell how it will hold up after extended use.The color looks great and there are several strap options. There are about the same number of pockets one would expect on a Hobo bag and they are spacious to allow for plenty of larger carry items.
