Description
The Snugpak Basecamp Ops Sleeper Expedition offers an abundance of warmth and insulation for extremely cold nights. The comfort temperature rating for this sleeping bag is 10 degrees Fahrenheit but can go as low as 1 degree Fahrenheit for experienced users. The Basecamp Ops Sleeper Expedition will ensure you stay warm in cold conditions with Isofibre insulation. Isofibre is a siliconized hollow fiber fill; this innovative structure traps warm air between the cavities in the fiber and retains heat even when wet and prolongs the sleeping bag’s life. The unique structure of Isofibre insulation allows the sleeping bag to be washed and packed in the included compression stuff sack for long periods of time without losing its thermal properties. When unpacked, the insulation decompresses and springs back to gain its maximum bulk and warmth. The Basecamp Ops Sleeper Expedition is equipped with an anti-snag 2 way zipper, zip baffle, hanging dry tabs, a draft collar, and a snug fit hood. The mummy shape of the sleeping bag is designed to retain body heat and does not zip open to form a blanket. The sleeping bag’s dimensions are 87 inches long by 31 inches wide; packed, it is 13 by 11 inches. It weighs 5.75 pounds and is best used in situations when you can rely on vehicles to move your gear. The Basecamp Ops Sleeper Expedition Extreme also features AQUALight 190T polyester shell fabric that offers superior water repellence to keep you dry in inclement weather. The Basecamp Ops Sleeper Expedition offers practical features that will keep you warm and dry in dangerously cold conditions.

For the money, this is the best bag you can buy! I typically use down & synthetic topquilts since I hammock 90% of the time, but when it came time to buy a bag I went no further than Snugpak. They have been supplying bags and clothing to the UK armed forces for 50 years and have several iconic pieces of kit. This bag isn't intended for backpacking since it comes in at 5lbs +. But with that, you get 4.7LBS of Snugpak's proprietary Isofibre™ siliconized hollow core insulation, which gives this bag a TRUE COMFORT rating of 10°F , with a push to 1°F when used with proper clothing / shelter. I own many many pieces of gear from Snugpak, from ALL of their hammock insulation, both tarps and pillows , to their poncho + liner, Ionosphere 1 person bivy tent, 2 jungle blankets, "Softie elite* jacket & vest and now this bag. It's all held up to many years of hard use and has performed excellent with ZERO failures. I have no doubt that this bag will also perform at the high level it's designed to. When it comes to DEEP winter insulation, it's not time to play around. You need a bag you can trust from a company that has a reputation for producing very high quality products. Snugpak is that brand for me . Plus, for the price, you won't find another bag that does what this one does with the quality and temp rating. Why pay $$$$$ for a big name bag when you can get this one for less that performs just as well? I definitely recommend this bag and any other Snugpak product. There is nothing I disliked about itThis is a very nice bag for the price of $40. The quality of materials feels somewhat cheap but is thicker and better quality than any bag of this price. The stitching is not tied off well, and it is loosely stitched, so a snag may unloose the insulation form the shell a bit sooner than expected. The zipper set is not great. I recommend replacing it. It's cheap to do, and well worth it. That said, I am pleased with this purchase.I am 6'3" and have a few inches more than needed to be comfortable in the length of the bag. The shoulders are a bit tight, but it is still comfortable with enough room to maneuver. I have not tested the temperature rating, but from an initial observation, I would trust this bag to -10c wearing casual long johns and -15 to -20 wearing an extra thermal layer.I had assumed Snugpak to be a cheap ripoff company or to just make cheap quality products. After my last few purchases, I'd say Snugpak makes gear somewhere between average and great quality at the price of low quality gear.My friend and I each bought one of these bags. Used recently in 30 degree damp weather, The bags kept us very warm all night long. My only negative comment is that they are restrictive in the chest area, wish it was a tad bigger. However, this is a good product. Thank you Outdoor Gear Review for turning us on to this bag.Took this bag out to the Appalachian trail for a night. It was very comfortable, warm- to a degree. We were in 22 degree weather inside a tent. It was warm but my feet were a little cold. Double socks did the trick. I like this bag and I loved the value. You can’t go wrong with this bag.Kept me warm all week in the cold. Not the most comfortable, but that is part of the mummy design.I was favorably impressed for the money. I've had several bags whose performance didn't hold up anything close to their advertised comfort rating. These bags pack right down into a small and reasonably light package, and with a bit of shaking they loft right outVery warm for the price. A little bulky compared to some of that crazy ultralight stuff but dollar for dollar one of the best options out thereWas really great value for a while, then after light normal use, the zip broke ! I now have a snugpak quilt with a hood on the right side of it ? The zip came undone while fastened up and every attempt to reconnect it result in the same easy seperating of both sides of the zip. On close inspection it appears the actual zip handle is of weak material and internally snapped under light wear and tear, hence all attempts at reconnecting just fails. You need strong zips for "Mummy" bags as the preasure you put on them being very confined (like a cozy streight jacket) is greater than a "true" sleeping bag !? If you are a Hobbit, you will have less trouble with the very weak and poor quality zip, if you are 6 foot'ish, don't buy. Should be 1 star (because of poor zip) but the rest of this sleeping bag is ok, just let down by 1 simple component, the zip !Zip broke first time I used it, turns out to be quite the headache to replace it. Loved the look of snugpak products however this sleeping bag joins a long line of expensive one use items. AVOID!Very warmWirklich ein guter Schlafsack. Daumen hoch!If you looking for a nice sleeping bag and dont wanna make a trip to the Everest than buy it. Ist comfortable and very warm for normal sized persons. You cant go wrong with this sleeping bag for the price. If you are not mentally retarded than you can zip and unzipp it a life long. It weights more than any other bag but its worth the extra weight. I am 185 cm 95kg and the fitting is perfect.
