RV ... a recreational vehicle is actually a vehicle that requires a constant state of maintenance. The skylight on our 2006 5th wheel was faded and opaque from years of Southern Oregon sun's UV. A recent hail storm had me worried it might break, usually at night in a storm miles from home the first night at a camp ground (that's when stuff breaks) so after reading tons of reviews, I chose ICON. They seem to be the "industry go to parts" with highest reviews.Arrived very fast, well packaged in a heavy duty box, but after removing the old OEM skylight I realized the ICON is way more heavy duty plastic than the OEM original. I also liked the ICON flange was slightly larger all the way around than the old one which covered all the old screw holes from the original. There was also more screw pre-drilled holes which is better spreading the clamping force.Obviously the screw holes wont line up but that's preferred since I would rather have fresh new screw holes with new ICON Butyl sealant to ensure a good solid seal. I absolutely hate RV leaks and I would assume the entire roof would come off way before this skylight leaked! The smoke color is perfect, filters just enough sun to make the bathroom shower bright enough yet filters the harsh summer heat. The clear see through to the sky - haven't see that for years with the crusty old one, this new one now we can see the stars at night even as its a smoke color.Have to replace our truck camper skylight, will definitely use ICON again. Since the install was so easy, about an hour, its not intimidating to me anymore. You have to use the ICON approved sealant - otherwise the chemicals in other brands may deteriorate, become brittle, and crack the plastic. Will buy again.
